Artifact Protocol v1

Continuity without a chain.

The Last Prism uses native artifact identities and signed, hash-linked events. Bitcoin may later witness a batch checkpoint; it never contains or controls the object.

What the protocol preserves

01

Identity

A protocol-native identifier and canonical manifest remain intelligible without resolving a wallet, contract, or chain token.

02

Attribution

Passkey assertions authorize server-defined event challenges. A signature identifies a registered credential; it does not make every claim true.

03

Continuity

Every accepted event links to the prior head. Custody is derived from that sequence and updated atomically with each handoff.

04

Detectability

Public events enter append-only epochs. Signed checkpoints and inclusion proofs make later secret rewriting easier to detect.

A gift, technically

Two people, one exact offer.

Bitcoin as a public witness

The artifact does not live on Bitcoin.

Accepted public events are grouped into Merkle epochs. Only the checkpoint digest may be timestamped through an asynchronous, replaceable adapter.

  • No personal data is anchored.
  • No transfer waits for a confirmation.
  • A pending proof never invalidates an artifact.
  • A timestamp does not preserve the media file.

Honest limits

Evidence has boundaries.

Custody is not copyright. Creator attribution and legal rights are separate explicit claims or agreements.

Signed is not automatically true. A signature proves which credential authorized a statement, not whether reality agrees.

Content addressing is not availability. A matching hash detects change; it does not guarantee that bytes remain hosted.

Infrastructure cannot make meaning. The platform cannot manufacture cultural, artistic, sentimental, or historical value.
